History
The Ruby Pardue Blackburn Adult Day Health Care Center has been caring for families since 2008.
Adult Enrichment Services of Wilkes is a non-profit organization doing business as The Ruby Pardue Blackburn Adult Day Care Center. The center was named after the mother and sister of one of our major contributors.
Adult Enrichment Services of Wilkes along with The Health Foundation, Inc. Board developed this program over a seven year period of study and development following the recommendations and best practices identified by Partners in Caregiving, the NC Adult day Health Services Association, and by visiting the top ranked facilities in North Carolina. The original idea for an adult day care center in the Wilkes County area began as a Task Force in 1998.
Locally, The Health Foundation led a community wide fundraising effort that generated gifts & pledges of over $1.5 million to be used for the construction of the center. The Duke Endowment, the Golden Leaf Foundation, The Kulynych Family Foundation, Lowes Education and Charitable Foundation, and Sisters of Mercy have also contributed to the effort.
